About Us
It started the way a lot of good things do: out of necessity and a little boredom.
When Covid hit and the world shut down, two friends did what a lot of people did and picked up a hobby. We grabbed an inexpensive smoker and decided to give it a try. Our first cook was a disaster. But instead of walking away, we got obsessed. We wanted to figure out what went wrong and do it better. Then do it better again. Over a thousand cooks later, with friends and family pushing us every step of the way, we decided to stop treating it like a hobby and start treating it like what it actually was: a passion worth pursuing.
But we didn’t just want to do barbecue. We wanted to build something with more meaning behind it.
Growing up through Covid, through all the hard years of being young adults finding our footing, one constant in Miles’s life was his German Shepherd, Zee. Miles had brought Zee home at 18, before the smoker, before any of this. So when it came time to put a name on this thing we’d built together, it wasn’t even a question.
Zee’s BBQ is named for the best boy we’ve ever known.
A meal worth fetching.
Food is one half of who we are. The other half is animals. We believe every dog deserves a home, and from day one we knew that giving back had to be a core part of who we are. That’s why a portion of our efforts goes directly toward supporting animals in shelters: helping cover food and daily care costs, and paying medical bills for injured animals who come through shelter doors and need a fighting chance.
One meal and one animal at a time.
